And fast food, a mainstay for Americans with a high school diploma or less, has a median hourly wage of $9.11.”

Mayor de Blasio and Speaker Mark-Viverito Announce Action Plan to Grow 21st Century Industrial and Manufacturing Jobs in NYC

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito gather alongside City Council members outside of GMDC’s 1155-1205 Manhattan Avenue building to announce the city’s new industrial policy, which includes $150 million in investments to spur more than 20,000 new jobs and support a sector that employs more than a half-million New Yorkers.

Mayor de Blasio: Hotels are killing industrial jobs, and my new rules will bring them back

During the mayor’s press event on Tuesday, Nov. 3, held at GMDC’s 1155-1205 Manhattan Avenue building, Bill de Blasio announced the city’s new industrial plan, which included scaling back the allowance of hotel development in protected Industrial Business Zones in Brooklyn.

City Faces Rising Demand for Industrial Space

But the success of an organization like the Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center (GMDC), which is set to expand its portfolio of manufacturing buildings to include 1102 Atlantic Avenue in Crown Heights, shows that at least modest growth in manufacturing employment is within reach.”
